How NICPrep collects, uses, and protects your information.
01Who We Are
This Privacy Policy describes how PassAllPrep LLC ("PassAllPrep," "we," "us," or "our") collects and uses information when you use NICPrep, our exam preparation product available at nicprep.com. NICPrep provides independent preparation materials for NIC written exams across multiple modalities (Cosmetology, Nail Technology, Esthetics, Barber Styling, Hair Design, Electrology, and Permanent Cosmetics).
PassAllPrep LLC operates NICPrep along with other exam prep platforms under the PassAllPrep umbrella. Where this policy refers to "NICPrep," it refers to the nicprep.com product specifically; references to "we" or "PassAllPrep" refer to the legal entity that operates it. 02Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
Information you provide directly
- Email address — collected at checkout to grant access to your purchase, and on the access page to look up your products.
- Payment information — processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
- Contact form submissions — name, email, and message text when you contact support.
- Refund requests — when you submit a 60-day pass guarantee refund request, we collect your NIC exam result document for verification.
Information collected automatically when you use the platform
- Usage analytics — aggregate, anonymized data about how the site is used, via Google Analytics.
Information stored locally in your browser (not collected by us)
When you use NICPrep on a device, the following information is stored in your browser's local storage and remains on your device:
- Your practice activity — which practice tests you've started and completed, your scores per question, time spent on each test, and per-domain performance breakdowns. This information powers your progress dashboard.
- Your access email — if you check "Remember me on this device" on the access page, your email is stored in your browser so you don't have to re-enter it next time.
- Cached content — practice tests, flashcards, and rationales are cached locally so the platform works offline.
This locally stored information is not transmitted to our servers. It stays on the device you used to practice. Clearing your browser storage or switching devices will remove it.
Cookies and similar technologies
NICPrep uses cookies and similar browser storage technologies (including localStorage) for: storing your access email when you check "Remember me," storing your local practice progress, caching content for offline use, supporting our live chat widget on the contact page, and producing aggregate usage analytics. You can disable cookies and clear local storage in your browser settings; doing so will remove your saved access email, your local progress, and any cached content, but you can re-enter your email on the access page to recover access to your purchases.
03How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Grant and manage access to your purchased products.
- Send purchase confirmation and account-related emails (access lookups, refund processing).
- Respond to support requests submitted via the contact form, email, phone, or text.
- Improve our products through aggregate, anonymized analytics.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We use information stored locally in your browser to:
- Display your progress dashboard and per-domain performance.
- Cache practice content for offline use.
- Remember your access email on the device you've checked "Remember me" on.
Use across PassAllPrep platforms. PassAllPrep LLC operates NICPrep alongside other exam prep platforms. We may share your account-level information (such as email address and purchase history) across PassAllPrep platforms to support unified account access, customer service, and aggregate analytics across our products. We do not share your refund verification documents across platforms — those remain scoped to the platform you used. (Practice activity is stored only in your browser, not on our servers, so there is nothing to share across platforms.) If we ever expand cross-platform data sharing beyond what is described here, we will update this policy and, where required by law, obtain your consent before doing so.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties (outside the PassAllPrep family of platforms or the service providers listed in Section 4) for their marketing purposes. We do not send promotional or marketing emails — only transactional emails related to your account and purchases.
04Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate NICPrep. Each has its own privacy policy governing its handling of your data:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Supabase — purchase record and account data storage (cloud database).
- Resend — transactional email delivery (purchase confirmations, refund notifications).
- Google Analytics — anonymous, aggregate usage analytics. (Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser.)
- Tidio — live chat widget on the contact page.
These services act as data processors on our behalf and are contractually obligated to handle your data only for the purposes we direct.
05Data Storage and Retention
Your purchase records and account data are stored in Supabase, a secure cloud database. We retain this data:
- Account and purchase records: for as long as your purchase remains valid (NICPrep purchases do not expire), to allow you to re-access your products via email lookup at any time.
- Contact form submissions: for up to 24 months after the last interaction, to support follow-up and customer service quality review.
- Refund verification documents (NIC exam results): for up to 24 months after the refund decision, for audit and dispute-resolution purposes.
Your practice activity (test scores, progress, performance breakdowns) is stored in your browser's local storage and is not retained by us. You control its retention by managing your browser settings.
You can request deletion of the data we hold about you at any time — see Section 7.
06Children's Privacy
NICPrep is intended for adults preparing for state cosmetology licensing exams. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. We do not direct our products to anyone under 13. Some cosmetology candidates are 16 or 17 (minors in most US states); if a minor purchases NICPrep, they should do so with the involvement of a parent or guardian, who is responsible for reviewing this policy.
If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, contact hello@nicprep.com.
07Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion of your personal information ("right to be forgotten").
- Withdraw consent for processing where we rely on consent as the legal basis.
- Lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator if you believe we have mishandled your data.
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@nicprep.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing the request.
08California Residents
Specific disclosures for California residents under the CCPA / CPRA — including categories of personal information collected, sources, business purposes, "Do Not Sell or Share" disclosure, sensitive personal information handling, and California-specific consumer rights — will be added here once finalized by counsel.
Until this section is finalized, California residents may exercise the rights described in Section 7 by emailing hello@nicprep.com.
09EU / UK Residents
Specific disclosures for residents of the European Union and the United Kingdom under the GDPR / UK GDPR — including the identity of the data controller, the lawful basis for each processing purpose, international transfer mechanisms, GDPR-specific data subject rights, and supervisory authority contact information — will be added here once finalized by counsel.
Until this section is finalized, EU and UK residents may exercise the rights described in Section 7 by emailing hello@nicprep.com.
10Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), encrypted storage, and access controls limiting which staff can view personal data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to protect your data using current best practices.
11Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify users by email. Continued use of NICPrep after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
